Starting an MLM Business is Like Starting a Garden

I was listening to one of Bob Proctor’s programs today and he was talking about how you shouldn’t expect to see immediate results from the things you do today. The Law of Gender states that every seed has a gestation period. The things that you do today in your business are the seeds that you are planting and it will take some period of time for the results to show up. It is your job to keep planting the seeds and tending them and to know that they will grow.
One of the people who joined my team recently is beginning to get discouraged that he isn’t seeing the results yet from his work, and the results he is looking for are orders for our company’s products. My job is to encourage him to stay with it and keep tending his business, and I encourage him by showing him the signs that it is starting to work.
This network marketing business is just like the garden that my family started last week. We planted broccoli, peas, cauliflower, peppers, and onions. We can’t expect that we will have vegetables to eat after only a few days. It takes time for them to sprout then grow into plants than can generate the vegetables we are looking for. Instead we need to look for other signs that something is happening. After a few days we saw that the cauliflower and broccoli have sprouted. This is very exciting and a sure sign that we are doing the right thing. It is especially exciting or my small kids to see something happening.
My team is building our network marketing businesses online, and like with the vegetable garden, we can’t expect to see final results, or sales, right away. We have to look for other signs that things are happening. We can look at how our pages are performing on the search engines for our keywords. We can also see how many visits our pages receive in a day, week or month and track the click-through rates to our company’s replicated website. As long as those things are improving we know that we are doing the right things. When they reach a certain point then we can expect to see the end result, the orders that we want to see.
Finally, here’s a good thing to keep in mind: anything worth doing is worth taking your time, sticking with it long term, and learning how to do it right so that the desired results can and will appear.
