Thank you for taking the time to find out about working with me. My intent here is to give you enough of an overview for you to decide to get more detailed information about what I do and how we can partner together for our mutual success.
You have probably figured out by now that I am building a home-based business in network marketing with a company called Nikken. More about Nikken later because what’s important is how I’m building the business and how we can work together. Just about any network marketing company could be plugged into the back end.
Retail Profit – The Quickest Path to Cash
Most people in network marketing seem to only talk about recruiting. I don’t. I focus first on selling product to earn retail profits. I have two very good reasons for this approach. First, if you rely primarily on recruiting new people and getting them on an autoship, you will need A LOT of people to sign up to make much money. If you have much experience with network marketing then you probably know that people can be reluctant to sign up for things. On my retail website very few people sign up for my newsletter that get’s them 20% off their orders. They would rather pay full price than sign up for anything. Selling product is a lot easier.
The second reason is that there is more money in retail profit than in teammates on an autoship. With Nikken, retail profit is up to 20% of the retail price while your commission on a teammates order is up to 20% of the wholesale price. You don’t have to look any farther into the compensation plan than that to see that retail profits are better, especially when you don’t have a team yet.
Nikken’s compensation plan is also designed to get you to focus on retail first when you start out. When you join, the only option you have for income is retail profit. You don’t start to earn commission from your teammates until you are at least one level above them. So it is better to start off selling product, make some money, and move up a level or two. When you reach a point where you can make money from having a team you can shift some of your focus to recruiting.
If you want some proof that I do what I say, I was named one of the Top 5 Retailers at Nikken’s 2011 North American Convention. I have been retailing product all along and have only recently shifted some of my focus to recruiting a team and teaching them to do the same thing.
Internet Network Marketing
The second part to my network marketing formula is building my business online. I’ll be honest with you, I was a web developer back when I had a “real job”. What I did then was nothing like what I’m doing now online. To be honest, corporate America does it the hard way. Internet marketing is easy. I have created training for the people who join my team to show them how to set up a self-hosted blog and start selling product online. You can have a blog set up online in less than 15 minutes and it doesn’t take any special skill and it costs less than $10 a month.
So, why be online when all of the other network marketers tell you that you need to be building lists and prospecting all your friends? Again, two reasons. First, building a list only works when you have people who understand the value of owning their own business to put on the list. The second reason is that you can reach thousands more people online than you can by going to networking meetings and business expos.
How to Build a Profitable Network Marketing Business Online
So, here’s how I have built my business so far and what I will teach you how to do if you decide that this is right for you.
As I already said, I start with selling my network marketing company’s products online so that I can reach as many people as possible and begin making money as quick as possible. I created a web hosting account with HostMonster and installed WordPress to create my website. I know that sounds like it could be hard but it really is just a few clicks and some fill-in-the blanks to get it all set up. The hardest part is to make the initial commitment because your hosting account is for a year at minimum. I step my teammates through the entire process.
My Nikken product site is here so you can see what I am doing to sell the product online. I started with creating static pages for each of the products that Nikken offers and those pages point to my replicated website provided by Nikken. I still do static pages, which are easy to create with WordPress, because they provide some benefits for building the website long term. One benefit is that you only have one place to go to change the links if Nikken changes something on their end.
The rest of my site is a blog. I blog every 2 or 3 days about either the benefits of the products, my experience with the products, or how we make use of the products in my family. All of the links to product in my posts all point back to the static pages that I have already created. The pages become the focus for the products for easy maintenance. The posts create a bunch of internal links that help my website rank well with Google and the other search engines.
The next step is to have a profile on several other websites, especially the social websites which already rank very high with the search engines. Make sure that your profiles all have links back to your website. This creates external links to your website, which also help your website rank higher with the search engines.
Now, every time you publish a new post on your blog you advertise the post on the social sites. There are many ways to link your blog and the social sites together so that this syndication happens automatically. Another great way to get the word out about your posts is to leave comments on other people’s blogs. This all serves to get more traffic back to your blog.
